Conference on “The Status of Higher Education among tribals in India”

Dear Friends and Teachers,

In the meeting held on 7th April, 2012 in Dr. Bara’s resident, we have decided that the theme of the next conference will be on -“The status of Higher Education among Tribals”. So far this is a tentative theme as such, but even if it changes it will not be a big change. It means theme will revolve around the higher education or may be higher education concentrating on central tribal India with many subthemes.

We are pleased to announce that, from the overwhelmed response by the scholars in the last conference, this time we are looking forward to have very well thought and prepared papers on higher education among tribals, which will be having policy implications, particularly for the tribal regions.

We know that, in most of the cases, tribal families have passion for medical and engineering. Even in this connection, there are lots of problems in these fields. In fact, even after entering to these courses problems such as mediums of instructions, discrimination of various forms, and feeling of exclusivity from other groups etc.

In many other areas, we noticed very tiny representation by tribals such- Law, animation, media and many other areas of Social Sciences and Science and Technology. So, through this conference we will try to explore various avenues and possibilities of door. We will also try to seek various problems and issues associated with it.

The possible subthemes can be- (1) Discrimination in Higher Education (2) Problem of Medium of Instructions (3) Cognition and Mathematical Abilities among tribals (4) Traditional Knowledge to Modern Knowledge among Tribal (5) Professional Education Among Tribals (6) Education in Rights and Law (7) Globalization and Higher Education among Tribal (8) Climate Change, Agriculture and Gender in Higher Education etc. Anyway, these are just the initial subthemes, which we can rearrange later on.

So friends, please start writing papers and send us at adivasischool@gmail.com . This time, your papers will be scrutinized or reviewed by experts committee from Adivasi School. The tentative plan of conference is by October-November, 2012. So please, send your Abstract by July 30th, 2012 and final paper by August 30th, 2012. So far, venue has not been finalized, but we are thinking Raipur as a possible venue.

Thanks and regards,
JTSA and AdSN team
